Victim's Body Found In Suitcase

SAN DIEGO -- A preliminary hearing is scheduled later this morning for an East County woman accused of killing a local actor.

Amy Heather Davis, 25, is accused of killing Theodore Salanti, 57, and then stuffing his body into a suitcase. Salanti's decomposing body was found in his ransacked Grantville condominium on Sept 30. Salanti's car was missing, and witnesses saw Davis driving it, police said.

Salanti's father said that Davis was dating his son, but the relationship had soured.

Investigators said that Davis, who advertised on the Internet as an escort, killed Salanti shortly after they met. They said Davis' motive was robbery and she died her hair in an attempt to change her appearance.

Tuesday's hearing will determine if prosecutors have enough evidence to go to trial with their charges against Davis.
