Ads on the Internet and in a local publication led to the arrests this week of three women on prostitution charges.

Angela Gibbs, 29; Dameka J. Sykes, 24; and Tara R. McRae, 28; were arrested Tuesday after someone phoned in a tip to police, WLWT Eyewitness News 5 reported.

A Pennsylvania woman was arrested after allegedly buying her son and 3 of his friends beer and stripping for them in a hotel in an attempt to make up for a failed birthday trip to ride go-carts.

The 34-year-old woman was ordered Friday to stand trial on charges of corruption of minors, indecent assault and reckless endangerment stemming from the alleged July 26 party.

Police said the youths met at a western Pennsylvania go-cart track to celebrate the birthday of the woman's son. When the boys discovered all the go-carts rented out, the woman drove to Ohio to buy beer and then took the youths to a hotel, police alleged.

A man ended up in an operating theatre after his penis got stuck in an industrial bolt he used to try and maintain an erection.

A pair from Bonita Springs charged with operating an escort agency without a license were acquitted when the judge ruled the Collier County ordinance under which they were charged was unconstitutional.

The adult population might finally receive a reprieve from herpes outbreaks, or at least help containing and treating the viral disease with the first commercially available PCR-based test for both herpes.

The test allows, for the first time, for the virus to be detected before sores have developed and even before antibodies have been produced. Prior to the new test, the best form of rapid testing was based on antibodies, which for the adult population don't develop fast enough to prevent widespread contamination. Antibodies don't develop until the virus has already reached transmission stage which is too late for people as sexually active as those in the adult community.

The Bush administration has appealed to the Supreme Court to reinstate a law that punishes Web site operators who expose children to dirty pictures and other inappropriate material.

The court has already sided with the government once this year in its war against online smut, ruling that Congress can require public libraries that receive federal funding to equip computers with anti-pornography filters.

In an appeal filed Monday, Solicitor General Theodore Olson said the filter technology alone is not enough. Children are "unprotected from the harmful effects of the enormous amount of pornography on the World Wide Web," he told justices.

The broader law at issue now requires that operators of commercial Internet sites use credit cards or some form of adults-only screening system to ensure children cannot see material deemed harmful to them. Operators could face fines and jail time for not complying. Full Story...

In e-mails with a male prostitute, Michael Peterson negotiated a paid date for sex and said it would be nothing more than a business transaction.

Peterson, who is accused of killing his wife, went on to say he had a great marriage, according to the messages entered into evidence Monday in his trial.

A Dutch website is offering to teach women how to perform oral sex for just $1 a lesson.

Vrouwonline started the course after a survey revealed women wanted more information about sexual techniques.

Students have to pay 1.5 Euros, about $1, each time they visit the course which lasts four hours in full.

Editor Roos Roodnat said: "The courses are very friendly to women, starters and experienced women, and every item of the course is explained with pictures and texts.

A disabled Dutch man who is allowed to claim a monthly sex allowance can't find a willing prostitute.

He should be reimbursed by his council for any money he spends on sex workers.

But he says he can't find a prostitute who will give him a receipt.

Further details emerged Friday about novelist Michael Peterson's alleged secret bisexual life, including evidence that he corresponded by e-mail with a male escort and visited Web sites with names like Malevault.com and Youngstuds.com.

In another highlight of Peterson's first-degree murder trial Friday, Judge Orlando Hudson ruled that the escort must testify, although he will receive statewide immunity from prosecution when he does so.

Hudson ruled that the true identity of the escort, who goes by the pseudonym "Brad," will be kept secret. But the judge declined to bar the media from photographing him.

Investigators are searching the computer of a Georgetown woman found with a severe head wound on Tuesday, looking for details about the clients who hired her as an escort and her schedule before she was fatally injured, police sources said.

An autopsy was conducted yesterday on the body of Teresa Howell, 44, who died Wednesday evening. But the D.C. medical examiner's office has not released the cause of death or determined whether it was a homicide or an accident.

Police sources and friends have said that Howell worked as an escort out of her rowhouse in the 1200 block of 29th Street NW, using the name "Summer Breeze."

Though police were interested in learning about her clients -- especially those who visited her shortly before her injury -- it was unclear whether Howell's work had anything to do with the case.

Howell was found, nude and unconscious, on a couch on the first floor of her rowhouse on Tuesday afternoon, sources familiar with the case said. She had a large cut on the back of her head and two skull fractures. Some of Howell's blood had dried, and her bruises showed signs that the injuries were not fresh, a source said. Full Story...
