Cape Town to debate red-light districts
Emotions are likely to run high this week when conservative Christians and the representatives of sex workers debate the possible introduction of red-light districts in Cape Town. The city's burgeoning sex industry reportedly includes about 60 agencies and hundreds of independent sex workers operating along most arterial suburban roads across the city. The City of Cape Town intends introducing legislation that will regulate how, where and when "adult" businesses operate. It is concerned only with a zoning policy.
